Fun times this weekend

So Andy and I are starting are mad rush of baseball, track, and everything else we are doing. Here is a preview of what our weekend looks like: I will post pictures on Sunday or Monday

Today: Papa went and picked up Addisyn in Waco. Daddy (Andy) is working Papa's tournament while Nana watches Savannah and Addisyn at the ball park. Mommy (Claire) has a track meet and then headed to the baseball game

Friday: Nana, Addisyn, Savannah, and Mommy are going to go to the inflatable wonderland in the morning and then head to the baseball field where Papa and Daddy will be working the games. Sometime during the afternoon Ma and Pa are going to be getting into Austin to visit.

Saturday: Savannah at home with Ma and Pa having a fun time! Mommy at a High School Track meet all day. Daddy at Papa's baseball games all day

FUN TIMES...I know it sounds crazy and not like a lot of fun to most of you but the truth is we love our crazy life and we love baseball season. Savannah just watches the entire time...so many noices and people it is facinating to her! Plus today and tomorrow she will have Addisyn to hang out with.

Life as a Mom!

In my 5 short months of being a mom I have learned a lot! But nothing really prepared me for yesterday.

Sunday's are a little stressful with church but yesterday was something out of the ordinary. Savannah slept pretty good on Saturday night (meaning she slept 4 hours woke up and back to sleep for 4) but she was in a weird mood all morning. She was making a weird cry/scream sound until we got into the nursery. She seemed pretty content in church even laughing at a baby that wouldn't stop crying. I could tell she was getting sleepy so I put her in her stroller with her blanket and pacifier and she was fast asleep.

We were able to feed her cereal at church and go to lunch with the Higgins. At the resturant she began to make the weird noise again so we gave her a bottle and she feel asleep for her afternoon nap. After lunch Andy and I stopped by Babies R Us and then Andy headed to Kyle to take his friend Alex dinner (he had his appedix removed).

When Savannah and I got home I notices how dry her chin was so I put lotion on her face. This was a fight...she began to scream and go crazy. Once she calmed down we played on the floor for a little while and then she seemed was in her jumperoo thing while I washed dishes and cleaned up the house. Around 6 pm I gave her cereal for dinner and while I was wiping her face she began to scream some more. Well, then I saw that her chin and areas around her mouth were so dry she was bleeding. No wonder she was screaming her poor face was hurting! After calling Andy, my Mom, and the Pediatrician. We were told to apply two creams and then vaseline, to not let her have a pacifier tonight (by the way that is how she falls asleep) and to give her tylenol. Andy was on his way home and Savannah was ready for her night bottle. I got her into her PJs and started appling the cream...Bless her heart she was screaming and crying (real tears) all while trying to push my hands out of the way and kicking my chest. She cried herself to sleep after an hour of me holding her and rocking her.

Please just pray for her skin. She is so little and I know it burns. The daycare is applying vaseline today so I am hoping it looks 10x better this afternoon.

Some Fun for Friday!

As I stated about a month ago I am on a Journey of "Looking Fine in 09". I am blessed to tell you that I have lost about 12 pounds. One of my friends sent me this in an email and I couldn't help but share it with you! Have a great weekend...ours will be at the baseball field...update to come!

Importance of Walking
Walking can add minutes to your life.
This enables you at 85 years old
to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing
home at $7000 per month.
My grandpa started walking
five miles a day when he was 60..
Now he's 97 years old
and we don't know where he is.
I like long walks,
especially when they are taken
by people who annoy me.
The only reason I would take up walking
is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.
I have to walk early in the morning,
before my brain figures out what I'm doing.
I joined a health club last year,
spent about 400 bucks.
Haven't lost a pound.
Apparently you have to go there.
Every time I utter the dirty word, 'exercise',
I wash my mouth out with chocolate.
I do have flabby thighs,
but fortunately my stomach covers them.
The advantage of exercising every day
is so when you die, they'll say,
'Well, she looks good doesn't she?'
If you are going to try cross-country skiing,
start with a small country.
I know I got a lot of exercise
the last few years,
just getting "over the hill" .
We all get heavier as we get older,
because there's a lot more information in our heads.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I love to read

When Andy and I found out we were expecting a baby he started to attempt to convince me that we needed a bean bag chair so that he could read to the baby. At 8 months pregnant I gave in and we found a pink bean bag chair. It has come in very handy on those long nights of trying to get Savannah to sleep in her room. But recently we have started reading to her and she seems to really enjoy it. Take a look at the pictures!

Frustrated and Tired

Lately, Savannah has not been sleeping at all through the night. By sleeping through the night I mean about 4-5 hours without waking up. I have been given advice by so many people and books but in the end I know my baby and well she just isn't ready to sleep 10 hours at night. However, recently it has been an 1 1/2 tops of sleep. Let me just say this is wearing on Andy and I! Thank God I have a husband that is willing to switch nights with me. Let's just say we are in need of prayer...that Savannah will start sleeping better.

That is why I am tired...not really frustrated because lets be honest she is a baby and she needs Us. I am frustrated by what I read and heard on the news the other day. Apparently according to Bristal Palin "abstinence is not realistic." This made me very mad! Abstinence is realistic and it DOES happen. I know that not all people wait until marriage to have sex...and I am not be any means calling them bad people. But one thing that I was proud of is the fact that I waited until my wedding night to have sex and so did Andy. For her to say that it isn't realistic just upsets me. WHAT KIND OF A MESSAGE IS SHE SENDING TO TEENS?

Okay so that is my rant for the day :) Hope you all have a great day and please keep Andy and I in your prayers for Sleep!

Happy Valentines Day!

What a great Valentines Day! On Friday night Andy took me to a place in downtown Austin called Trulucks...it was amazing! My mom babysat Savannah and we enjoyed an evening out just the two of us.
Then on Saturday morning we fed Savannah solids for the first time...it was an experience! Around 10 am Andy's dad got into Austin to visit and we just hung out all day. It was very relaxing! Below are some pictures of our weekend!

Starting Solids

This weekend we started Savannah on Rice cereal. She still isn't sure what to think but here are a couple pictures from her first feeding!

I love my cup!

Savannah turned 5 months old yesterday! Last night I was cleaning bottles and taking out the clean dishes and Savannah wanted to be near me....So I got her bumbo and sat her in it on the counter. While I was taking out the cups she grabbed the red plastic one and proceeded to chew all over it.

Daddy and Mommy Date

Yesterday was such a fun day for Andy and I although it was a little weird. My Dad and Mom were going to have lunch with my Brother and family in Waco and they asked if they could take Savannah so that they could all see them...we said yes (I will post pictures soon).

At 9 am I dropped Savannah off at my parents and headed to church. After Church we went out with about 10 friends for lunch. It was a blast...we laughed so hard that three of us were crying! Although I must admit that it was very weird to not have Savannah and I was missing her! But I called mom and dad, they said she was great and having a blast. Andy and I got home and we took a two hour nap...imagine a nap on a Sunday! After that we got ready for our date.

About a month ago Andy surprised me with tickets to see Legally Blonde the Musical. Our friend Jennifer watched Savannah and we went on a date. We had a blast...I think I enjoyed the musical more than Andy but he said it was so much fun just to hang out with me. AHHH!!!

Side note: Savannah did not get home before we left so when my parents dropped her off with Jenn she said that she kept looking around the house for us! My baby!!!

Fun times with Savannah!

If you have ever been around a baby, it becomes so much more fun when they recognize you and begin to smile and laugh. Over the past month Savannah has become so aware of her surrondings. Here are some pictures of her fun! Laughing at Daddy and trying to grab he carseat toy

My jumping thing at home!

Savannah woke up at 5:30 but went back to bed around 7 and slept until 9...which meant Andy and I got to sleep in!!! After we all go up we just hung out around the house. Here are some pictures of our fun day!
I am too cool!

Soul Revolution

Our church began a new series called Soul Revolution two weeks ago. It follows a book by John Burke and it is about "How imperfect people become all God intended." One of the aspects of this series is the 60/60 experiment. This is a challenge to stop, pray, and reflect of God every 60 minutes for 60 days. We all have little timers that help us remember to do this.

Why do I tell you all this? Well, it is because I want this to stick! I want to be all God intended me to be. I am a wife, mother, daughter, friend, sister, coach, and teacher. And I want to radiate God in all those aspects. However, I must say right now I am struggling. Maybe it is because when my timer goes off I struggle with what to say or what to think. I realized this morning that something that might help is quit saying I so much. Some times God doesn't want us to speak he wants us to listen!

So today stop and "Be Still in His Presence" and see what He can reveal to you. I will be sure to blog about this experience as it goes along.

Savannah meets her husband

Well after two weeks of being sick and wanting to meet Hudson so bad...we were finally able too! Although Andy had to stand outside just in case :)

Our good friends Steve and Jenn Garcia welcomed Hudson Reide into the world a little over two weeks ago. They have been such great friends and have helped us through a lot of transitions in the past year!
In April or May they came over to help us paint Savannah's room and Jenn said she had been feeling wierd. I remembering telling her that she may be pregnant. Well she was. Since she found out she was having a boy we have had a joke that it is Savannah's husband :)

Savannah wasn't sure what to think of Hudson...she wanted to touch him and look at him. We are excited to hang out with them again soon.
