Happy Halloween

Savannah's first Halloween! She is dressing up like a lady bug and we are headed to a block party for our church! I will post pictures later.

This weekend is also the BIG football game for Lake Travis. We play Dripping Springs (We are not friends) and it is for the district championship. GO CAVS GO!!!

Tomorrow we are having our friend Jennifer Garcia's baby shower at our house. Savannah doesn't know it yet but inside her Jenn's tummy is her future husband Hudson! :) Then Sunday we will say good-bye again to Pa and Ma but don't worry they can't stay away for long!

This week at a glance

TGIF!!! I can't tell you how excited I am that it is Friday...I get to be home with my baby all weekend. Here are a couple of pictures of Savannah this week!

Savannah had a visit from her GiGi and GiPa (I think that is what they said...Andy's moms parents - they made a new name for their grandchildren) Here is four generations of Rays

Savannah's new way of Sleeping on your shoulder! Can she even breathe?

Bath Time...Look at how red her hair is getting!

7 weeks old

Wow it has flown by and I know it is hard to understand but I can't imagine life without her! This week she is experiencing a lot of new things:

1. Mom going back to work (Andy's parents are watching her this week, my mom next week, and then Day care)

2. Sleeping in her crib during the day

3. The first cold weather in her short life

4. Meeting three great-grandparents! Savannah is blessed because she has 8 great-grandparents still living

5. Her first Volleyball game

6. Her first Halloween

She has also graduated from NB size diapers to size 1. And she is barely fitting into her newborn clothes anymore...but 0-3 months is still big on her. Her hair has become almost orange!

Although being back at work is hard...when I get home she has nothing but smiles for Mom!

Back to work

I am officially sitting in my classroom back at work. I must say I didn't think it would be this tough today. I was doing great all weekend...people would ask are you okay and I would say "Yes, I am ready." Well, last night it hit me and then this morning forget it!

But Savannah was so content. This morning when I left she was sleeping in her crib and Andy's parents have been so excited to spend this week with her. I am so blessed to have wonderful in-laws and parents! I can't say that enough!!! I love all of you!

This week will be tough but I am excited to be back with co-workers and students that I love! Tomorrow Savannah will be getting to meet some more of her great-grandparents so she is in for a fun week.

This is a picture of us last night when she was getting ready for bed!

Fun times!

This week brought some fun!

First our friend Jennifer decided that she would serve us by painting our spare bathroom. I know...I fought tooth and nail for a red room with Andy and he finally gave in. But after having Savannah and thinking that bath time would be much more fun with a bright colored wall, I decided to change it! So the bathrrom went from deep crimson red to "Tiggers tummy yellow." Thanks Jenn...we love it!

The really fun thing that has happened is Savannahs smile! And just when I thought my baby couldn't get cuter!

Going green

Okay so I don't really buy into a lot of the "green" mentality but this week Andy and I were forced to buy into some of it. Last week I started to notice little bumps on Savannah's face and chest...thinking it was just baby acne I got some lotion and was putting it on all the time. Well on Sunday it was much worse. After talking to different moms I decided to call the doctor.
We went in Monday morning and well Savannah has very sensitive skin as well as baby eczema. This means that we had to change a lot of what we are using around the house. The doctor said lets start with teh small things...no more scented lotion (which means if you want to hold her you can't have just put it on), no more scented dish washing soap (cleans the bottles), and Cheer Free and Clear laundry detergent. We also were given some creams to put on her face to help it clear up.
So why Green? Well apparently that is the only things that don't have chemicals in it that could effect her skin. However, I am not fond of the fact that helping the environment makes my pocket book smaller. I mean really $18.00 for laundry detergent...are they kidding!!!! Oh and by the way our washing machine went out this week...so we had to order a new one which isn't exactly fun. So the Harvey household is beginning to help the environment a little more but I am not going to go crazy! I am still not sure that it helps all that much (please don't kill me...my green friends) And as Andy said "I always knew having Savannah would cost money but I didn't think it would happen this way :)

On an exciting note: Savannah is Smiling and talking this week! Now if we can just get her to sleep through the night!

First road trip

I must say...my baby is a great traveler. Savannah did great in Dallas! The whole way up to Dallas she slept and the way back she slept and then played.
I was so excited for Savannah to meet everyone! Of course they thought she was beautiful and fought over who held her. Savannah met some very important people in my life this weekend. She met her great-grandparents Papa and Mama (my Papa is pretty sick and I was so glad we got to see him), she also met Her Great Aunt Jenny and Great Uncle Elvis (yes that is his real name!), she met my cousins Marcus, Rachel, and Hannah. Hannah didn't want to leave Savannah's side and was a very big help the entire weekend!

We also got to see Uncle Ryan, Aunt Jennifer, and our cousin Addisyn. Addisyn was so excited to see Savannah! She loves her very much and didn't want anyone to hold Savannah except her. This did end up being a little problem because how do you tell a 2 1/2 year old that she is being to rough. A couple times she was holding Savannah and she would try to pick her up or touch her head. Ryan and Andy both agreed that Addisyn was going to give them a heart attack because of how nervous they were when she was holding her. We tried to take pictures of the two of them in the pumpkin patch. However, this proved to be a big challenge. There was so much going on that Addisyn wanted to look at everything and not really hold Savannah. We finally layed them down and took pictures.

All in all it was a great weekend! Andy and I were glad we went and can't wait until Thanksgiving!

On a side note this is my last week home from school. I start teaching and basketball next week. Please pray that I will be okay as I know it is going to be very hard!

What do you get?

What do you get when you are married to Claire
Harvey and have a baby? A lot or junk when you go
on a one day trip. We are headed to Dallas at
1 p.m. today and coming back at 4 p.m. tomorrow.

Packed:
Stroller
Pack and Play
Co Sleeper
Suit case
Toiletries
Way to many Diapers (according to Andy)
Way to many Bottles (according to Andy)
Wipes
Formula
And of course the camera!

A Special Thanks for all who were praying for my mom. She is doing good and is at home resting (or at least that what she says). She went into the hospital on Tuesday night with chest pains...they found out that she has some blockage in her heart but not enough to do any stints right now. She does have a mild heart disease (which is hereditary) and for right now they are going to treat her with medicine and a change in diet.
Savannah and I are headed over to the house right now before Andy gets off work and we head to Dallas!

Five weeks old!

Well today Savannah is five weeks old! I can hardly believe that this time five weeks ago I was just hoping she wouldn't be a September 11th baby! This also means that my six week maternity leave is coming to a close and I am not ready!
On Friday we are going on our first road trip with Savannah. This will be tell us how she will do at Christmas when we travel to Alabama by car! We are heading to Dallas to meet some of the Kinnan family and I must say I am so excited! It is so fun to show her off and hear people say that Andy and I did good. Although really God did good! (Side note: I really don't know how people can't believe in God when they have a little one!)
This week I finally took some advice from Robyn and Melissa. I packed up Savannah in her stroller and we went for a walk on Monday to Walgreens. She did great and seemed to really enjoy the outside.

One last thought or really question: When you are not breastfeeding and your baby is five weeks old why does your milk still continue to come in!?

Trying to get on a schedule

Today I decided that I needed to work on getting Savannah on a schedule. I must say I didn't do a very good job. Although there were some goals that I started to accomplish:
1. Savannah sleeping in her own room...Andy and I are not ready for her to be in there at night but I decided that I needed to start getting her used to sleeping in her crib. So during her morning nap she slept for about an hour in her own room. I tried my hardest to just use the monitor although I did go check on her a couple of times.
2. I finally did it! I got Savannah in her stroller and we went for a walk. We walked to Walgreens to print some pictures and back.

I am happy to say that I am working on it. Although this afternoon both Savannah and I took a nap in our bed (I said I am working on it!)

Savannah is officially a month old and I can't believe it. I go back to work in two weeks and although I said I would never want to be a stay at home mom...I am not sure how I am going to leave my baby for 8-9 hours a day! At least I get holidays and summer off! This weekend Andy and I will head to Dallas to see my family and for Savannah to meet the Kinnan family :)

Below is a picture of Savannah from church on Sunday. Amy and I loved the bonnet although Daddy was not fond of it!

Aunt Amy and Pumpkin Patch

This weekend Aunt Amy came to visit. Savannah loves people being here. She slept in Amy's arms for about four hours today and I think Amy kinda likes here!

On Saturday we went to a Pumpkin Patch and took some pictures. Savannah did so good and was such a trooper with Mom taking so many pictures!

Go Cavs!

Go Cavs! Savannah went to her first of many Lake Travis Games on Friday! She did great and we won 57-0. Although it may look like she has a belly...it is just the way I had her sitting :)

A weeks glance

Savannah has had a memorable week. Becoming a month old, running arrons with mom, going shopping with Mom and Jennifer, making invitations, hanging out with Papa and Nana, and meeting Tuck and Mimi. Here are some pictures from our week of fun.

This weekend brings Aunt Amy, Lake Travis Football, and Pumpkin Patch!!! I will be posting more pictures soon! By the way...I take a lot of pictures :)

Doctor Visit

Yesterday Savannah had her one month check up! I can't believe on Friday she will be one month old. It seems like just yesterday I was wanting her to just get here!
Savannah is changing before Andy and I's eyes. She now weighs 8 lbs 5 ounces and is 21.5 inches long. Which means in one month she has gained a pund and grown 1.5 inches. She is starting to be able to focus more and has started smiling a little. We have also found that she is ticklish on her sides, legs, and feet.
On another note this weekend brings Aunt Amy and we are all excited. This will be the first time she has met Savannah and we can't wait until they meet. My first day back at school is fast approaching and I am not excited but what is a girl to do?

Go COWBOYS

The Kinnan's and Harvey's are Cowboys fans so it is only natural that Savannah would be one too!

Visit from Pa and Ma

This weekend we welcomed Andy's parents back into town! We were all so excited and had a great time. We stayed at our house and just enjoyed the company.

For the first time in a couple of months it was nice enough to sit outside for a while. Saturday morning we all woke up, got ready, and went outside. Savannah loved being outside with her Pa and Ma.

It was a great weekend and we can't wait until they come back for a week at the end of the month!

Ready for the weekend!

Andy, Savannah, and I are so excited because Andy's parents are coming into town this weekend. Savannah can't wait to see her Pa and Ma...plus Daddy is making the famous Harvey fajitas! Will post pictures on Sunday!
