Family Pictures

We did our annual Christmas pictures! This time I must say was a little bit of a challenge trying to get all of us ready and out the door. You wouldn't think an extra person would be that big of a deal but when it is a baby you take the entire house most of the time! Here is a link of favorites to look at! Don't worry you will get a Christmas card soon!

Thanksgiving

We had such a great week off from school for Thanksgiving! Some of our highlights were

1. Being able to see a lot of family
2. Surprising Grannie and Granjack with Savannah
3. Great Travel
4. Savannah on her first plane ride...sleeping both ways!
5. Seeing family I haven't seen in over 5 years
6. Being able to be so thankful for so many things! I can't begin to tell you how blessed I am as a wife, mom, daughter, sister-in-law, and friend! Thank you to all who continue to believe in me and support me in all my activities!

Here are a few pictures from this week! To see more check out my facebook page.

We did it

This morning I am writing from Mobile, Alabama! Andy and I decided about a week ago to come for tHanksgiving and surprise Grannie and Granjack and what a surprise it was. Grannie was shocked and so excited and of course they are eating Savannah up!

She did great on the plane. Not even a peep! I must say I love Southwest...

I will write more later with pictures!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and Go Boys!

7 quick things for Friday

One of my favorite blogs...Just me right now...challenged us to write 7 quick entries about our lives...so here goes
-- 1 --
Savannah is already getting into sports! She has been to Football, Volleyball, and Basketball games...soon she will go to baseball as well. She is such a trooper. For those of you that say she is going to grow up and hate sports...people told my mom that too and look at her two kids. We both coach!
-- 2 --
Mom is very excited about tomorrow because although it isn't even Thanksgiving we are decorating the house for Christmas and watching Elf!
-- 3 --
I found out that I have Planter Faciatis on my left foot and a bone bruise. Let me just say it hurts like poo!
-- 4--
Since Andy and I both did things this summer for credit at school, we have the entire week of Thanksgiving off. Although we won't be in Austin at all we are so excited about traveling and seeing a ton of family!
-- 5 --
Due to missing 7 weeks of school, paying for day care, and adding Savannah to my insurance my pay check is very small for the next 6 months. I think we should be like Finland and Sweden and give the mom's 6 months maternity leave with pay and the dad gets some paternity leave as well. (Let the record note that I don't want to move there I just want us to adopt that one way of thinking)
-- 6 --
Savannah is 10 weeks old! She is such a high achiever. She is smiling and talking all the time now. She also is beginning to enjoy tummy time which has resulted in her trying to sit up more in your lap. She no longer wants to be held like a baby but she wants to be able to see the world!
-- 7 --
IT'S FRIDAY AND ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!! I LOVE IT!!

Go Cavs Go!

So Savannah is getting her feel of Lake Travis athletics in two days! Yesterday was Mommy's first basketball game (which ended in a tie) and Savannah and Daddy were there with her bib that says "My Mom is the coach!" As soon as the game was over we jumped in the car with Papa and Nana and headed to San Marcos to root for our High School Volleyball game in the State Semi-finals. Unfortunately they didn't win but it was a great game and Savannah was so good. For the first two games she just looked around at all the excitement. After eating her bottle she fell asleep on Nana and never woke up! In fact when we got her home I changed her diaper and clothes and she slept right through it all.

Finally a full night with not being woken up! Praise God! We might be on the verge of something.

Tonight it is on to the Football playoff game in San Marcos! We probably won't stay too long because it is supposed to be cold...but we will take pictures.

3 years ago on November 17, 2005 I made the most important decision in my life. I said Yes to Andy. I know it may be cheesy but I like anniversary's so Andy and I celebrate our engagement as well as wedding. I thought in honor of our engagement I would tell you how it happened.

I was in my last semester of college...student teaching and working as an intern at the Baptist Student Ministry. Andy and I had gotten back together in Febuary and I knew a ring was coming fairly soon. However, I had been sick all week and had not been at school or work. I finally felt a little better and I went to the weekly worship service at the BSM called Refuge.
That night after the service I was holding a meeting to talk about the upcoming mission trip to New Orleans to help with relief of Katrina.
As soon as Refuge was over I headed upstairs and got ready for the meeting. My roommate and best friend had seemed weird all day but I just thought she was mad at me or something. So with about thirty of my friends and students I started the New Orleans meeting. At the end of the meeting we were praying and I heard someone coming up the stairs but didn't think anything of it until I heard Andy's best friend say hey it's Andy. (By the way he was leaving in Houston and I was in San Marcos...so he shouldn't have just been there)
To be honest I heard Josh but I didn't really think he was telling the truth until I looked up and saw him. I started to ask what he was doing in San Marcos when I noticed something in his hand...then he got down on one knee. I don't really remember what all he said because I was crying and asking "Are you serious?" But he said something like Claire I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you...will you marry me? Of course I said YES! And well the rest is history!

But I must say the proposal was so special because all of my closest friends were there with me when it happened! The next morning we started planning and got married on July 15, 2006!

I love you Andy and am so Glad I said YES!!!!!!!

Laundry Day

Ever feel like you never have a break from laundry? Well, Sunday is normally laundry day at the Harvey household. However, I can never understand where all of it comes from...I think I wash the same things every week. And yet Andy and I want to always buy new clothes when we have a whole closet full.

Maybe we should try an experiment and only wash underwear until we really don't have anything to wear? But then again I have my favorite jeans and windpants that I must have clean each week! :)

Converse

As soon as Andy found out we were having a girl he went to the store and bought her little pink converse...Savannah is finally getting big enough to wear them and he is so excited! Here are two pictures of shoes. One is Andy and Savannah's and then the other is all three of ours!

First week of Day Care

Savannah's first week of Day care has gone great! All the teachers have said that she is doing really good and is a great baby! She has even had her Papa visit her three times this week :)

Andy and I have been a little concerned that she doesn't recognize us or really want to smile at us when we get home. But after reading about some things what I can tell is she is just over stimulated right now and she trying to get into a routine. However, last night and this morning she has been talking, watching us, and smiling at us.

We are very excited to have this weekend with her. As soon as school is out today we are headed for a quick trip to Dallas for my cousins wedding.

ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL THANKSGIVING BREAK!!!

First Day

Savannah's first day of day care went great! She was a little angel which we knew she would be. They said that she was happy the whole day and just watched all the things that were going on.

I was so anxious for 4:15 so I could leave and go pick her up. When I arrived at the day care she was outside in a buggy just smiling and kicking. When I got up to her she looked at me and her eyes got all big and she starting talking and smiling. She knew who I was!!! On our way home she fell asleep but when we got home she talked and smiled at Andy and I for about 2 hours.

At 6:30 pm she fell asleep and was out cold until 1:30 this morning. So Andy and I figure if we can get her to start going to sleep between 8:00 and 9:00 we could have an actual full nights sleep!

Two months and Day Care

Today Savannah is two months old and starting Day Care. The time has flown by and I was really nervous about leaving Savannah with someone other than family. This morning went very smooth. I got up at 5:00 and took a shower and was able to get completely ready and even eat breakfast before Savannah woke up. Once she woke up she was changed and feed and then Andy and I played with her for a little while. She was all smiles and talking to us.

At 6:45 Andy and I loaded up the car for Day Care. Andy put her in my car because I won't take her in the mornings. He will take her and I will pick her up since I have early morning practice for basketball. In the car she was just talking away not even seeming to mind where she was going :)

Once we got to the day care...Andy and I walked in, filled out some papers, and handed her off. She was getting tired but we were both able to hung her and give her a kiss before we left. Of course I cried but she seemed to be in good hands and I know she is going to make lots of new friends! In fact all of the babies in her room are kids of teachers that either teach at Andy's school or mine.

In the parking lot Andy and I prayed and off we went to school. Now I just can't wait until 4:05 when I can leave and pick up my baby!

Weekend of Fun

This weekend Savannah and I had a great time! It started off Saturday with a mommy and Savannah day. Daddy was in need of some rest and time to be alone and he didn't want to go to the Christmas shopping extravaganza. So I loaded Savannah up and off we went.

Our first stop was breakfast with my college roommate Lacy. She had not met Savannah and we were excited to see her. Lacy was supposed to spend the day with us but an unexpected family emergency called for her to head home so breakfast at chick-fil-a had to do.

If you don't know I love Christmas! It is my favorite time of year! I am so excited that this year we have a house and baby and I can't wait to decorate. If Andy would let me I would decorate the house this week but I promised to wait until the week of Thanksgiving...yes I said the week of because we will be gone and I want to come home to a Christmas tree!
But until then I can enjoy the Christmas craft shows. Andy and I went to one on Friday night before having dinner with friends but I was most looking forward to Saturday's in Westlake. My plan was to find the last gifts we needed with money I had been saving. Well, I spent the money all on things for Savannah and am so excited! We walked around for 3 hours and Savannah just looked at all the lights and people. But the best part was that Santa was there. She did great and Santa was a tropper even though she spit up on him! :)

When Savannah and I got home Aunt Tuck came over and wanted Andy's help with buying a computer. Andy of course agreed because it meant he got to go to Best Buy and then the Apple store.

After we left Apple and ate we came home and had bath time and play! Here are some pictures.

8 weeks and shots

Today was the dreaded day. We took Savannah in to her two month check up. (Yes, she will be 2 months on Monday!) The visit started out good. Savannah now weighs 10lbs. 7.5 oz. and is 23 inches long. The doctor has now switched our lotion again for Savannah...her skin is still very dry and we are going to try another cream plus she wants us to use Cradle Cap shampoo and see if her head gets any better. Once the doctor was done it was time for shots. I thought I would be okay but as soon as she started wailing I started crying. Once the shots were over Andy picked her up and calmed her down within a couple minutes. She is now sleeping on Andy and we will see what happens tonight. My baby is such a trooper!

Here are some pictures of today before shots.

Bucket

On Friday night while I was getting Jennifer's bucket ready for the shower. Andy decided it was just the right size for Savannah. She looked confused but never said a peep!

I love my in-laws!

All I can say is I am so blessed! Since we found out we were pregnant I asked if Andy's parents would come stay a week and then my mom so that Savannah wouldn't start day care until she was two months old.

I could hardly believe last Saturday when Andy's mom and dad showed up that the time was here to go back to school. It was a very rough week...from leaving my baby to dealing with parents my first week back. But when I came home each day I was reminded how blessed I was.

Every morning when I woke up with Savannah I would bring her into the living room at 5:30 am and there would be her Pa (Andy's Dad) ready to see his baby girl! He would feed her and play with her while I ate breakfast and watched the news. About 20 minutes later when I would go get ready for the day I would leave her in the hands of her Pa and Ma. She would smile and talk to them all morning. I knew each day when I left her she was in good hands!

Well, let me just say she wasn't just in good hands she was in great hands! They did more for us than we could have ever hoped and I was so thankful to come home to Savannah and not have to worry about anything. They not only watched Savannah they did laundry, went grocery shopping, mowed our yard, cleaned my house, cooked dinner, washed dishes, and most of all loved all day on Savannah. I am so blessed and I could never say enough of how much I love them!

One of my favorite memories from the week will not be with Savannah or Andy but with my mother-in-law...or as I call her Momma Harvey! I had a bad day on Friday at school and Saturday I was very snappy with Andy which didn't make him very happy...and needless to say we weren't pleased with the other one. Andy and his dad left to go run an arron and I came out of the bedroom and there was Momma Harvey! She listened to me talk for a minute and then let me cry on her for about 15 minutes. Sometimes you just need to cry and no words will help. I have always been close to my mother in law but it is in those moments that I realized just how much I loved her! Thanks Momma Harvey and I love you very much!
